Chemo, Cookies, Ribbons and more....

Hello everyone - from the very soggy West Coast!

Just need to get a vent out. To the person who thought it was amusing to post porn on my blog yesterday - it was not appreciated at all. You insulted me and hurt me as well as it would have hurt others had I not deleted it this morning. This blog is about my cancer journey through life - love, laughter, support, silly stuff, visits with friends from around the world. Do not spoil it!

Ok, now that is out of the way.

Had my chemo yesterday and had Gabbie as my nurse, she is a sweetie. Katya came with me and Patrick did too, so we had a gang. Got the blood work done and then we went down to Londsdale Quay for a while and meandered around there, and yes Shannon, we went into the cook store - Patrick found lots of stuff he liked and so did I - will be visiting there again!!! And then back to Lions Gate. Stood on the scale - down 2.6 lbs from two weeks ago, so they will be watching that a bit. I didn't mind it though! Gabbie came over and chatted and asked if I had brought my Granisetron which I had, and i took my first one then - it is an anti-nausea preventative which I will take for two days. She said that my numbers were a bit low so I would have to stay on the Geupogen till the end of my chemo, so had to call over to the pharmacy and reorder it - $1700 - thanks goodness for drug plans. She the ran saline through me to get me hydrated, then stared their bag of anti-nausea medications - takes about 20 minutes, and finally she started the vinorelbine. Once that was done, got my drugs from the pharmacy and made our way home. Of course there was issues with GWL again, but will deal with that on Monday.

It is cookie baking day today - Meghan, Tamara and Megan are helping make cookies for the Relay for Life next week - butterflies, and flowers. It was a lot of fun. I made the dough earlier in the day so it was perfect by the time th gals got here. Tamara picked out a perfect recipe for both the cookies and the icing! Lots of fun was had - and lots of broken pieces to nibble on (some broken on purpose!!!) And we really didn't eat that many of the cookies, really, we didn't!!! We also got the last of the daffodils cut out and Meghan finished off the ribbons. Just a couple more things to get ready for the relay next week and will do those on Monday and Tuesday. We have at this point 20 team members and I thank each and every one of them for joining - means a great deal to me.

Little Miss Madelynn

Little Miss Alexus

Also picked up more ceramics - the ones that Patrick and I did a couple of weeks back - he is a cool looking monkey and mine is a funky frog - they look great. I want to go back and start picking out Christmas decorations to paint and give to friends and to the nurses. They have so much nice stuff at the store - and not overly priced actually. And the staff are great - for those of you in the area, it is called Club Colour and is on the Fraser Hwy in Langley.

Well, that is about all for now. Will post after the Relay next weekend - there might be some surprises for you!

Cookie baking - one of my favourite memories of stuff I did with my mom. Your mini-helpers are awfully darn cute.
Saskatoon's Relay for Life had to move indoors this weekend as we have nothing but rain and sleet and daytime highs of 6 degrees. I hope that our overabundance of rain means that we took your share too and that you have nothing but sunny skies next weekend.
Your frog is quite unique - just like you - one of a kind!

Anyway - just wanted to check in here and see if there was anything new. Hang in there and take care, 'cuz I care.
love, Mavis

Hey Veronica...I applaud and am impressed with your fundraising efforts, and volunteer projects, while going through your battle. For awhile now, I have been concerned and supporting my Mom, your sister, with her ongoing battle she is fighting. As serious as it is, we are all very hopeful, holding to our faith, and are pulling together as a family, privately, which is how we have always done. I do hope you pull through, as you McMullan ladies are a tough bunch! LOL Please say a prayer for Mom, while you are a in the upcoming relay, as I pray for you.
Your niece, Kathy Hugs

As always Roni, I am amazed by your fortitude and your ability to enjoy life so fully while going through all that you are going through. Wish I were still up there helping you out (not that I really helped with much the few days I was up there ... wow, it's been nearly two months ago already), and I don't necessarily mean with the cookies, although the did look and sound delicious! I really enjoyed our time together and hope we get to spend more time together soon. Take care, girlfriend! love ya, Carol

Roni, I just read the latest on your blog. I don't know how you do it. You certainly are one strong super person.
I love your frog.......would look great with the others in my garden. I'll have to take a picture of one of mine in particular and send it. I just couldn't resist buying it at the time. It has been holding fort in my garden for quite a few years, in fact I had to give it a new coat of paint last summer.
I do hope you have fine weather for your relay. The relay here is next week. We lost one of our major supporters in a car crash in the early hours yesterday morning. He was a very talented person and was on his way home from performing in Grand Falls and probably fell asleep at the wheel and missed a turn.
I wish we could exchange a bit of weather. We have lots of sunshine to send and really need some rain here (but not too much). I hope to do a little gardening this morning as it is supposed to be cooler today. Hugs, Viv

Loving all the comments - and glad someone else loves frogs!! And yes Bonnie, I will rest - believe me - I have three kids who will make sure of it and a husband!

The cookies are yummy - and are nicely frozen - so no sneaking a bite here or there!

Screwy weather all across the country - go figure. Too hot in Toronto and too wet out here. Had friends move to the Sunshine Coast and she asked where the sunshine had gone to!

Well, I am off to the dollar store to get some paint brushes and then painting some hearts and tulips for the relay - I know, should be daffodils but the store only had tulips - pretty either way!

Roni, I just read your last 3 posts. (Sorry for being behind in my reading). I become exhaustd just reading about all you do. Like, our fellow "teaparty" sister, Diana, I feel you are an inspiration.

I'll pray that the weather is sunny for the Relay this coming weekend. I know everyone will love your cookies and flowers.

Praying too that your next scan gives happier news than the last one.

i don't know how you keep up with all that stuff, Roni. The cookies looked wonderful. I love the little painted animals. And fund raising, I hope you are getting enough rest and feel well, those home needles are not fun, I never thought i could do it..but as you say like darts..you get use to it and try not to bruise too much. You looked lovely in your gowned for the night out! The grand kids are growing like weeds, doesn't take long. And your flowers are amazing. I think I have found an apartment, back to Independence for me..been a 3 year wait, but it's here. take care Roni, Sandra E.

Sandra - will be great for you moving back into your own place - been three years already - wow.

We are doing lots of prayers to the Sun Goddess for nicer weather for the weekend. Doesn't have to be really hot 0 but warmer than this and no rain. If rain, then no bouncy castle and the kids love that one. Will helping with some of the set up on Friday and early Saturday morning. Then once my time done in the survivor tent, I will be with my wonderful team in our tent - Country Dancing Boobies! Can't wait.

And then it is Ryan's 3rd birthday party on Sunday - time has flown by for sure. He is a little man now.

I sent you a silly message yesterday, which if you didn't get it because I goofed and it disappeared. It said "How great an example you and your family are at finding stuff to keep busy" and how you have inspired me to get going....then I told you how inspired I was yesterday.....I watched the French Open Ladies and then the French Open Men's, did some on my Sunday crossword that usually takes a whole week (or more) I did get a short walk in, after lunch, and I said, "Boy am I busy!" ha ha Well, then I had to get on the puter and catch up on all the videos and messages, etc. etc.
The cookies looked darn good and the collector's item ceramic is definitely a cutie. I really must get busy and do something today.... after I finish with my emailing, fwding, Facebooking, yada yada yah, Love Auntie Shirley
Thanks for the pix you sent, I love all the funnies you find and have fwded them on.
