Hello All,
This is Shannon, Roni's daughter. We just wanted to send out a note to her most contacted folks with a little update, since we have been getting a number of inquiries about her health.
The main reason you haven't heard from Mom is that 1. she doesn't have the energy to spend time at the computer and 2. she has forgotten all of her passwords to gmail, facebook, banking, etc. We have an interesting time trying to source info from her, it is like a combo between 20 questions, charades, and reading minds. She says "I forgot my passwords, but I didn't forget who you are." We have recently cracked her code to get into Facebook.
Her health has declined. She continues chemo, but since the brain surgery there has been a decline in her lucidity and her general health. She sleeps about 18-20 hours a day and when she is awake, she is at varying degrees of lucidity-the mouth is not cooperating with the brain.
She does have her spirits up for the most part, and will enjoy a joke of course. She will eat when she finds something she likes, but that can be a challenge at times.
Her kids along with Brian are sitting down this week to organize things like a full time care schedule, getting home supports in place, and looking forward, what needs to happen when she passes-when that comes to be. But for right now, we just want to make sure she has someone around as she is so easily winded and wobbly and that she is comfortable and has what she needs.
Any of you wishing to call and speak with her, she is usually awake during lunch and dinnertime and would love to hear all your kind words. We have passed on your messages of support facebook and email so far.
Thanks for your thoughts, and please keep her in your prayers.
Roni

This is such sad news. She has fought so hard for so long. Roni is just one amazing woman. She is an inspiration to us all. Her positive attitude has shamed me. My moans to not compare with what she has had to endure.
All my heart and love goes out to her, as it does to you all. You are all doing an amazing job there and she is so lucky to have such a wonderful family surrounding her.
Love you Roni xxx
My love and support going out to Roni and her family through this latest challenge.
Thank you for taking the time to update us all. Hugs to Roni.

Dear Roni, Brian and family
It is hard to read these updates and know that the fight is becoming more difficult. I cannot imagine how hard it is for all of you to cope with the latest health deterioration. My heart goes out to each of you-
Roni, my friend, I am so glad you spent part of Christmas with us -it meant a lot to me to have you here. I had been looking forward to having you and Brian over for dinner last Saturday night but I totally understand that you must put yourself first and I hope that we can still have that dinner! Maybe we will have to have it at your place and we will provide the meal! I think about you everyday and you are all in my prayers... It is time to let your family take care of you, and I know that they will all be there for you. You are surrounded by so much love! Take each day as it comes and enjoy every moment together! You are all truly blessed to have such a loving supportive family! If love could cure cancer your family would have eradicated it a long time ago. I will try and call you this week, take care my friend and love to all..... Rae
Thanks for the update Shannon. I have been reading the blog for sometime now to keep up with what is happening with Roni. I met her on the Westcoast Express and would sit with her every morning. She is quite a lady and I was and still am amazed at her spirit and bravery throughout her battle. I'm very sad to hear about her current state and I will continue to pray for all of you. Give her my love and thank you for taking the time to update us during this difficult period.

Roni - you are the strongest woman I know. You have pushed the boundaries, pushed others to push the boundaries, and drawn as much awareness to finding a cure for Breast Cancer, and any cancer as much as my former Inspiration Terry Fox has done. You might not have RUN a marathon of hope across Canada - however you have Run a Marathon of Hope and Inspiration in living your life to fight for a cure...and in doing so, shown those who know you, those who ought to know you, and those who love you, that with determination, strength, passion, courage, and an amazing positive attitude, that NOTHING can stand in the way no matter what the outcome, and that some day this disease will be beaten. Every day something new is learned - I just wish the answer was here...Now!
Feel the love of all those around you.

I think of you daily Girlfriend. Sending you a great big hug and kiss.
Hi Shannon, Thanks for posting this update, but sorry it had to be such sad news. Your mother's strength and courage is such an inspiration. You are taking such good care of your Mum, but be sure to take look after yourselves as well. My thoughts and prayers go out to to all of you.
Anne
This is so sad...I'm so happy to hear that she's keeping her spirits up! Sometimes that can be so difficult to do!
I pray for more strength and courage for all of you in these coming months
Love, hugs, warm thoughts and prayers for you all,
Tori
Hi Roni & family. I write this with a saddened heart to read this news (even tho' it's not new) and don't truly know what to say but I know that our blessed Chemo Warrior gets upset when people read the blog but don't contact her. :-)
I remember during my cancer journey that Roni was one of the very few that kept contact all along, even though we were new "breast friends" then. I really appreciated the contact, needing it even if I didn't realize it at the time.
I think of the battle and challenges you are all enduring and want you to know that I'm thinking of you and cursing the very reason that brought us together - the damned "C" word. I would dearly love it to mean Celebrate.
We can't always control what happens to us in life but we can control how we react to it. I think you have been doing a remarkable job & an inspiration to many. Thinking of you and wishing you better days! Hugs & love, Bonnie (PG Pink Lady)
