Ok, so just a small update today. And for a change, it’s some good news!!
Mom and Brian went to see Dr. Bond this morning at 8:30 to get some results and have the sutures removed (from where the chest tube was). Before their appointment with Dr. Bond, Mom had to have a few x-rays done which were sent right to Dr. Bond’s office. The x-rays show that there is no fluid in the lungs-means the talc is doing its job!! One of the reasons why this is such a relief is because Mom has been coughing a fair bit the last couple days and has been having the shortness of breath like she had before. Dr. Bond told them the reason for this could be caused by a few different things- Pleurex scaring, talc irritation or the lesions could just be bothering her lungs.
Mom and Brian also got the results from the HER-2 test, which came back negative. This is good news because it means that the type of breast cancer that Mom has is not the really aggressive kind.
So as of right now, things are a go for next week-meaning she should be starting treatment.

Great news today!! I've been waiting on the blog to be updated since I got up this morning, about midnight your time... :) Guess I was a little too early, huh? Now the good stuff begins - treatments! Can't wait to see that pnk wig, Roni!!
TEAM RONI IS COMING
Cancer, you were warned the last time to stay away and you did not heed. Now you have one really pissed off little Irish broad who is just itching for a fight.
We’re on! No quarter asked or taken! No holds barred! Nuclear, biological and chemical warfare are about to be unleashed upon you…it is going to get hotter than hell where you are!
But that is not the all of it Cancer…you are also going to face Team Roni. Through the worst and the best of it the Team will be there. We will beside her to provide comfort and support, behind her to give that little push forward that we all need now and then and of course in front of her to lead the way, to break trail that her journey will be a little easier and if necessary to drag her ever forward in this fight. There will be no quit! There is no such thing as second place! It is win at all costs.
Roni has chosen Rodney Atkins’s, “When You’re Going Through Hell” as her battle hymn. You will hear it often. As Roni’s partner I do not know what the coming months will bring but I am going to ask all her team members to continue their support. Negative thoughts are not allowed around here but hand holding, hugs and sharing are most welcome. Stay with team! Stay in touch!
Brian
Beating cancer is a team sport…join our team
Excellent team rally cry, Brian!!
If I were Cancer, I'd be quivering in my boots!!!!!
Roni - I love the sound of "non-aggressive"!! Let that damned Cancer lie there thinking it's safe and cozy... it's going to be very, very surprised when chemo - along with Roni's and her karate-chop - come knocking at its door!!
Go Roni!!
--hugs--
Victoria (a proud member of "Team Roni")
Thats excellent excellent news Roni! Onward ho! You are going to beat this and I am beside you 100%!
Hugs from Janice
I am so happy to hear the good news. Brian's post is wonderful and the team Roni is so lucky to have him. I do want to see Roni in that pink wig, as the cancer is being ousted out all together.
Sending many postive thoughts from here, and lots of hugs.
Daphne
Roni - I'm so glad the talc is doing it's job and that the HER-2 test was negative. You are so loved - that is obvious from Brian's post and from Megan's devotion to you. For those of us who have known you for a relatively short time, their comments support what we have seen for ourselves. You are a very special lady - a Fabulous woman and we will be cheering you on. Take no prisoners - you WILL win!!!!
Hugs, Mavis
Hugs to you Roni. Stay strong. You have so many people that love you!
Lori
Hi Roni, Great news! With your spirit and a husband and daughter like you have...nothing stands a chance against a team like that. Take care and know you are thought of everyday, love and hugs to you and your family. Sandra Erickson
YAY - I have been away on vacation and did not have the blog address with me. I'm SOOOOOOOO glad it's not HER-2 positive. Good news indeed!
I'm all about TEAM Sports like this - it's like Relay for Life in a BIG way.
GO TEAM RONI GO!!!!
Hugs, love & laughter,
Bonnie
